A new short-range ordered structure (SROS) has been observed in a Ni-1
4 at. % Ge binary alloy by means of transmission electron microscopy.
It is characterized by the diffraction intensity maxima 5/6{220} posit
ions. The atomic structure of the SROS was further studied by the comp
uter-aided at dynamical diffraction simulation technique. The SROS is
formed by the two-dimensional periodic arrangement of Ge-rich but occu
pancy-incomplete microdomains with spacing of 0.869 nm along the [112]
directions on {111} planes.
