Abstract
A number of adducts of InCl3 with selected Lewis bases have been synth esized and characterized. The complex of InCl3 with 1,2-dimethoxyethan e (DME = CH3OCH2CH2OCH3) is characterized by two centrosymmetrically r elated InCl3 . DME . 0.5 DME units, where the indium is six-coordinate d to three chlorine atoms, two oxygen atoms of one chelating DME unit and one oxygen atom of the bridging DME ligand in a fac-octahedral arr angement. The suitability and limits of using InCl3 . 3/2DME for the s ynthesis of InMe(3) (Me = CH3) are discussed.
