L. Stoica et al., DECONTAMINATION OF SOLUTIONS CONTAINING RADIOACTIVE SUBSTANCES BY DISSOLVED AIR FLOTATION, Water research, 29(9), 1995, pp. 2108-2112
Residual solutions contaminated with radioactive species require speci
al treatment methods as the low concentrations of contaminants which m
ay have important effects on the environment do not allow the direct u
se of classical methods. The paper reports the results of studies to s
eparate Ra-226(II) (0.73 Bq l(-1) concentration) by coprecipitation as
Ba(Ra)SO4, followed by dissolved air flotation. The selection of the
collector (by sigma and zeta determinations), optimum pH, concentratio
n of the reactants, maturation time have been studied.
