Abstract
In this paper, temporal curves of capacity dimension D-0 and informati on dimension D-1 are calculated with time window of one year and slidi ng step of half-a-year by using data of 11 seismic zones in the Sichua n-Yunnan area. The possibility of using the change rates of D-0 and D- 1 to predict whether an M greater than or equal to 5 earthquake will o ccur in the next half-a-year in the seismic zone is discussed. General ly speaking, it is possible to obtain grading values R which are diffe rent from those of random prediction. It is demonstrated that the use of the change rates of capacity dimension and information dimension fo r earthquake prediction has certain prospects.
