This paper presents an analysis of stationary self-trapped propagation
of a Gaussian laser beam in radially inhomogeneous absorbing/amplifyi
ng medium with saturating non-linearity. Using the paraxial theory, th
e profile of radial inhomogeneity corresponding to stationary self-tra
pped propagation has been evaluated.
