Hydroxy-terminated telechelic poly(2-chloroethyl vinyl ether) (poly(CE
VE)) was synthesized by water-based end-capping reaction of living pol
y(CEVE) with the initiating system CH3CHCl-OCH2CH2-OCOCH3/ZnCl2 in CH2
Cl2 at -40 degrees C and subsequent end-group transformation of the ac
etate (alpha-end) and aldehyde (omega-end) groups into hydroxy groups.
The obtained polymers possess controlled molecular weights and narrow
molecular weight distributions.
