Nm. Tendolkar et al., SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF TINIDAZOLE AND FURAZOLIDONE IN SUSPENSION BY HPTLC AND HPLC, Analytical letters, 28(9), 1995, pp. 1641-1653
High performance thin layer chromatographic (HPTLC) and high performan
ce liquid chromatographic (HPLC) methods were developed for the simult
aneous determination of Tinidazole and Furazolidone in suspension. In
the HPTLC method the separation of Tinidazole and Furazolidone was car
ried out on silica gel 60F(254) HPTLC glass plate using chloroform: me
thanol: ammonia (9:1:0.1 v/v) as a mobile phase. Rf values obtained we
re 0.63 and 0.79 for Furazolidone and Tinidazole respectively. Densito
metric evaluation was done at 335 nm. Linearity was obtained within th
e concentration range 10-50 mu g/ml and 3.5-17.5 mu g/ml for Tinidazol
e and Furazolidone respectively. The second method is based on high pe
rformance liquid chromatography on a reversed phase column (mu Bondapa
k C-18) using a mobile phase comprised of water : acetonitrile : triet
hylamine (80:20:0.1 v/v) adjusted to pH = 3.0 with dil. phosphoric aci
d. Retention times were 5.24 and 7.82 min for Tinidazole and Furazolid
one respectively at a flow rate of 1.5 ml/min. Detection was done at 3
35 nm. Linearity was obtained within the concentration range 30-180 mu
g/ml and 10.5-63 mu g/ml for TinidazoIe and Furazolidone resp.
