NEW ELETICINAE GENUS FROM ETHIOPIA AND REMARKS ON THE TRIBE MORPHOZONITINI (COLEOPTERA, MELOIDAE)

Afrospasta borana, new genus and new species of Eleticinae, tribe Morp hozonitini, from South Etiopia, are described and illustrated. Afrospa sta is characterized by some derived characters : reduced methatoracic wings, inflated posterior femurs, posterior tibiae enlarged at apex. Other principal characters are the great convex body, posterior tibial spurs both large and spoon-shaped, antennae short and subserrate, man dibles elongate and apically a little bent. The phylogenetic affinitie s of the new genus are discussed and a key to the Morphozonitini gener a is carried out.
