S. Ozgur et al., PREDICTIVE VALUE OF A NEW SCORING SYSTEM FOR THE OUTCOME OF PRIMARY IN-SITU EXPERIMENTAL EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK-WAVE LITHOTRIPSY OF UPPER URETERAL CALCULI, European urology, 28(1), 1995, pp. 36-39
The results of primary in situ extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy o
f upper ureteral calculi were analyzed retrospectively in 491 eligible
patients. The treatment was successful in 371 patients (76%). Degree
of obstruction, stone size, localization of stone, history of previous
ipsilateral surgery, and body mass index were found to be factors tha
t can influence the outcome of treatment. A scoring system based on th
ese factors has been developed to select the appropriate group of pati
ents for primary in situ extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy of uppe
r ureteral calculi.
