Abstract
A refined mathematical equation is proposed to quantify the ambient ac tivity of water during granulite facies metamorphism The thermodynamic calculations point to the low activity of water during metamorphism i n the area around Anakaplle, Vishakhapatnam district, A.P. Carbonic me tamorphism seems to be responsible for the low activity of water durin g this metamorphism. Gale-silicate rocks in the area, could have been the source of the CO2.
