UTILIZATION OF OIL IN SOIL AND WATER BY MICROBIAL-CELLS

Pure cultures and culture associations actively utilizing aliphatic an d aromatic fractions of oil of the Romashkinskoe oil field were select ed. Biopreparations based on vermiculite-immobilized active oil-degrad ing strains were developed. The ability of the preparations to decompo se oil in soil and water was shown. The preparation containing an asso ciation of yeast and the bacterium Acinetobacter sp. 725 proved most e fficient, In field lysimetric experiments, the introduction of the pre parations accelerated oil decomposition by up to 65 - 78% compared to the control.
