The study is devoted to analysis of EEG frequency spectral characteris
tics during mental reproduction by subjects of joy, anger, fear, and s
orrow. Significant differences between the emotional states are reveal
ed in the points C-4, T-4, F-3, O-1 by the mean alpha-frequency (p < 0
,05). Two opposite tendencies are revealed, i.e., joy and anger are ma
inly characterized by an increase of the alpha peak frequency in respe
ct to the background values, whereas its decrease is seen in fear and
sorrow.
