In previous papers, we have proposed reduced-level models in which we
retain in the model Hamiltonian only the two lowest levels of the crys
tal field splitting scheme of a rare-earth ion in rare-earth intermeta
llics. This approach yields a simple analytical state equation, from w
hich we may determine the value of the g-factor and molecular field pa
rameter (lambda). In this work we use a full model to study the sponta
neous magnetization vs temperature of PrAl2, using the values of g and
lambda obtained through a reduced model.
