Abstract
The luminescence spectra of MoO3 and WO3 at 4.2 K are reported. They a re very different. The optical absorption edge of MoO3 is at much high er energy than that of WO3. The Stokes shift of the MoO3 emission is a bout twice that of WO3. The differences are discussed in terms of the different crystal structures.
