KINETICS OF HYDROXYETHYLATION OF BUTYL CELLOSOLVE

The kinetics of hydroxyethylation of butyl cellosolve is investigated under the conditions of basic catalysis with ethylene oxide concentrat ions in the starting mixture up to 1.1 mol/l and temperatures from 80 to 150 degrees C. It is shown that experimental results are adequately described by the kinetic equation that is first-order with respect to the component concentrations. The rate constants and the activation e nergy for the reaction are determined.
