The kinetics of hydroxyethylation of butyl cellosolve is investigated
under the conditions of basic catalysis with ethylene oxide concentrat
ions in the starting mixture up to 1.1 mol/l and temperatures from 80
to 150 degrees C. It is shown that experimental results are adequately
described by the kinetic equation that is first-order with respect to
the component concentrations. The rate constants and the activation e
nergy for the reaction are determined.
