The mechanism of cyclopropane interaction with (=Si-O-)(3)Si-O-. param
agnetic centers stabilized on the SiO2 surface (RSi) is studied by EPR
at 300 and 150 K. The primary products of the free-radical reaction a
re identified. It is shown that the major product is the cyclopropyl r
adical. No products arising from cycle-opening cyclopropane addition t
o the radical are found. This implies that the relative yield of this
reaction is below 0.5%.
