Abstract
The structure of the pollen wall as revealed by transmission electron microscopy is presented for 29 species Senecio including 19 aureoid an d ten non-aureoid species. The previous report of a helianthoid wall s tructure (exine with internal foramina) is confirmed for all the aureo id species examined while all of the non-aureoid taxa showed a senecio id pattern. The data provide support for the treatment of the aureoid complex as a distinct taxon.
