Abstract
SeO(NPPh(3))(2) has been prepared from SeO2 and Me(3)SiNPPh(3) in a Se O2 suspension in acetonitrile, forming colourless crystals. The compou nd is characterized by IR spectrescopy and by a crystal structure dete rmination. Space group P $($) over bar$$ 1, Z = 2, structure solution with 5344 observed unique reflections, R = 0.064. Lattice dimensions a t -40 degrees C: a = 931.6,b = 947.6, c = 1762 pm, alpha = 77.50 degre es, beta = 81.78 degrees, gamma = 79.23 degrees. The compound forms mo nomeric molecules in which the selenium atom is phi-tetrahedrally surr ounded with bond lengths SeO = 161.7 pm and SeN = 179.9 and 181.6 pm.
