An increasing number of patients are undergoing resection of complex s
kull base lesions with good outcome. Advances in surgical techniques a
nd improved knowledge of the microanatomy have contributed to the abil
ity to manage these tumors aggressively. These procedures are not with
out complications, such as neurologic deficits, infection, and hemorrh
age. These complications, however, are expected and can be minimized w
ith timely management.
