Ar. Phukan et V. Subramaniam, DEGREE AND STABILITY OF THE FLAT SET OF PLAIN WEFT KNITTED FABRICS .1. EFFECT OF FINISHING TREATMENTS, Textile research journal, 65(8), 1995, pp. 471-477
This work investigates the degree and stability of flat set for a seri
es of plain weft knitted structures made from ring and rotor spun yarn
s produced from cotton, polyester, and polyester blends. While the fla
t set of cotton fabrics shows more or less similar values following bl
eaching and dyeing, for polyester fabrics a lower value follows scouri
ng and heat setting. Of the various methods used to study the degree o
f flat set, curling couple merits consideration in view of its sensiti
vity.
