Abstract
The paper industry, as with most industries today, can prosper only if the industry operates efficiently and cost effectively. Incorporating modern machinery coupled with up-to-date microprocessor-based instrum entation is one opportunity which cannot be overlooked. This has been proved in the balancing field with the use of modern, hard-bearing bal ancing machines. The hard-bearing machine is capable of being permanen tly calibrated and can greatly reduce the time it takes to balance. Th ese machines can achieve tighter balance tolerances and since dhe supp orts closely approximate the service bearing conditions, it is possibl e to efficiently and effectively balance flexible rotors.
