The kinetics of factor-dependent translation elongation was analyzed i
n the context of the stereospecific stabilization hypothesis. Several
kinetic schemes differing in the number of ribosome isomerization stag
es were examined. It was shown that the steady-state rate vs factor co
ncentration dependence is unique for each scheme. This evidence makes
it possible to experimentally identify the ribosome isomerization stag
es.
