O. Nedic et al., COVALENT COUPLING OF PROTEINS TO DIFFERENT STRAINS OF BACTERIA MODIFIED VIA SURFACE OXIDATION, Acta veterinaria, 45(2-3), 1995, pp. 109-116
Six different bacteria were investigated as protein carriers. Carbohyd
rate structures of the cell wall were oxidised and human IgG, as a mod
el protein, was bound covalently through Schiff base linkage. The resu
lting bacteria - protein conjugates were characterised in terms of the
amount of hlgG coupled per mass unit of bacteria. Agglutination react
ions with sheep anti - hlgG antiserum illustrated the potential applic
ation of this protein immobilised on bacteria as a solid support.
