STUDY OF ORGANOPHOSPHORUS PESTICIDE-RESIDUES IN WATER AND SEDIMENT SAMPLES OF THERMAIKOS GULF, GREECE

The object of this study was to investigate the seasonal variations an d the distribution of the organophosphorus compounds in the Thermaikos Gulf (N. Greece), in water and sediment samples. From this study we c onclude that the levels of the examined organophosphorus compounds are relatively close to those found for slightly polluted areas. However particularly high concentrations were observed at the estuaries of Ari es River and at the area where untreated municipal and industrial sewa ge are respectively discharged.
