Abstract
The effects produced by Cd on photosynthetic pigments (clorophylls and carotenoids) were analyzed in a soil-less culture experiment with tom ato plants. Total carotenoids and clorophyll a and b were measured in leaves. Three Cd levels were applied (0, 15 and 30 mg of Cd L(-1) in n utrient solution) adding CdCl2. In general, it has been observed a dim inution of pigments content in leaves along the experiment, however th e incidence of Cd was greater in clorophyll b than in chlorophyll a.
