Abstract
A review of the photometric methods reveals that the complexation reac tion between vanadium(IV) and anthranilic acid in presence of o-phenan throline has not been exploited analytically. The complex of vanadium( IV) can be extracted into different solvents. Among the solvents teste d, isoamyl alcohol was found to be suitable extractant which extracts the complex conveniently from slightly acidic solutions. An analytical method is proposed for the spectrophotometric determination of vanadi um after extracting vanadium(IV)-anthranilic acid-o-phenanthroline com plex in isoamyl alcohol. The advantages of the method are its simplici ty, selectivity and rapidity of determination without the use of any c atalyst.
