MOLECULAR MECHANISMS UNDERLYING FUNCTIONAL T-CELL UNRESPONSIVENESS

Evidence from tissue culture experiments and in vivo studies indicates that certain forms of antigen presentation render T cells unresponsiv e to subsequent antigenic stimulation. Great progress has been made re cently in understanding the induction, maintenance, and in vivo releva nce of this unresponsive state, called clonal anergy.
