Abstract
We describe the principle and the experimental tests of a fiber stretc her generating the same optical path modulation along the two polariza tion axes of a highly birefringent fiber with a 50 mu m stroke. Firstl y, we study the birefringence modification of the optical path modulat or under stretching. Secondly, this fluctuation is cancelled by the im plementation of a HB fiber Babinet compensator.
