Abstract
A selection index that has been used in the past for the analysis of m ultiple choice feeding-preference experiments with discrete items of f ood is extended for use with experiments where amounts of food are mea sured on a continuous scale and time changes may occur even in the abs ence of consumers. Estimation equations with approximate variances and covariances are provided. Confidence intervals and a test for signifi cant selection are briefly discussed.
