Abstract
Condensation of 2-methyl-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carboxolic acid hydrazide (2) with different acetophenones affords the corresponding acetopheno ne 2-methyl-1,8-naphthyridine-3-carbonylhydrazones (3), which on treat ment with POCl3 and DMF furnish the title compound 3-(3-aryl- 4-formyl pyrazole-1-carbonyl)- 2-methyl-1,8-naphthyridines (4). Some of the com pounds have shown antifungal and antibacterial activities.
