Km. Parida et al., SURFACE-ACIDITY AND TEXTURAL PROPERTIES OF INDIAN-OCEAN MANGANESE NODULES, Indian journal of chemistry. Sect. A: Inorganic, physical, theoretical & analytical, 34(8), 1995, pp. 632-634
Adsorption of the non-interacting amines, 2, 6-dimethylpyridine, 2, 6-
dimethylpiperidine and 2, 6-dimethylmorpholine, in cyclohexane on some
Indian Ocean manganese nodules has been studied. A linear relationshi
p between the acidities and the surface OH concentrations of the sampl
es suggests that the adsorption sites may be strong acid sites (Bronst
ed sites). N-2 adsorption at 77 degrees K shows that these materials a
re mesoporous with surface area values in the range 97-130 m(2)/g.
