J. Ward et al., A COMPARISON BETWEEN 2 ENRICHMENT PROCEDURES FOR THE ISOLATION OF SALMONELLA FROM POULTRY CARCASSES, Irish veterinary journal, 48(6), 1995, pp. 222-223
A comparison was made of two selective enrichment media, Rappaport-Vas
siliadis (RV) and Selenite Cystine (SC) broths, for the isolation of S
almonella from poultry carcasses. The SC broth was significantly (P <
0.01) more effective for isolating Salmonella from carcasses compared
with the RV broth. However, subculturing onto selective plating media
at both 24 and 48 hours was necessary to achieve maximum isolations.
