P. Quandalle et al., TOTAL PANCREATECTOMY FOR DIFFUSE AND MALI GNANT MUCINOUS DUCTAL ECTASIA OF THE PANCREAS - REPORT OF 2 CASES, Annales de chirurgie, 50(10), 1996, pp. 886-891
Two cases of mucinous duct ectasia are reported. Epithelial changes we
re spread along the pancreatic duct and ductal ectasia was diffuse. Mu
lti focal infiltrating carcinoma was observed in one case, microinvasi
ve carcinoma located in the head of the pancreas was observed. Morphol
ogic features by computed tomography, endoscopic ultrasonography pancr
eatography were useful for preoperative diagnosis of mucinous pancreat
ic duct ectasia. In one case, malignancy was suggested by measurement
of tumor markers in cystic fluid aspirated during percutaneous pancrea
tography. Total duodenopancreatectomy was performed in birth cases. Th
e two patients were alive and disease-free with a follow-up in both ca
ses of 18 and 36 months.
