Abstract
A survey of microorganisms of Striga hermonthica Del. Benth., a root p arasite of graminaceous crops, was conducted in northern Ghana in 1992 . Thirteen fungal species were isolated from infected S. hermonthica p lants. Fusarium spp. were the most prevalent, and were isolated from m ore than 90% of the S. hermonthica samples collected Other fungi isola ted were Alternaria alternata, Bipolaris specifera, Cladosporium oxysp orum, Curvularia falax, Macrophomina phaseolina, Nodulisporium gregari um, Phoma sorghina and Sclerotium rolfsii.
