Abstract
The synthesis of chiral thietanes and chiral thiiranes from oxiranes u nder Mitsunobu conditions is described. One chiral thietane was oxidiz ed to the corresponding thietane-1,1-dioxide. H-1-NMR, C-13-NMR, IR, M S data of the new compounds are given. In connection with a mesogenic group liquid crystal behavior could be observed for the thietane and t he thiirane as well.
