Abstract
The results of a floristic study of the benthic vegetation of the Isle of Alboran, based on collections made during two oceanographic cruise s in the summer of 1988 and 1992, are presented. Altogether 35 new spe cies for the Isle's flora were recorded; among them some like Desmares tia dresnayi, Polyneura bonnemaisonii? and Polysiphonia setacea, are r are or little-known in the Mediterranean. Data on morphology, ecology and geographical distribution of these species are presented and discu ssed from the biogeographical point of view.
