Abstract
Pressure dependence of optical absorption spectra was measured for (ph thalocyaninato)-nickel hexafluoroarsenate, NiPc(AsF6)(0.5). Under high pressure we found an intramolecular charge transfer from the central metal ion to the macrocycle, that is, from the metal d-band to the mac rocycle pi-band. According to the electron-filling process into the cc -band, a metal-insulator transition without accompanying a lattice dis tortion was observed.
