Am. Hassaan et Ma. Khalifa, COMPLEXING BEHAVIOR OF ETHYLENEDIAMINE BIS(ISATIN) SCHIFF-BASE LIGANDTOWARDS SOME METAL-IONS, Afinidad, 52(457), 1995, pp. 208-210
The synthesis and identification of a new series of the metal chelates
of MoO2(VI), UO2(VI), VO(IV), Pd(II), Ag(I), La(III), Ce(III) and Th(
IV) with the ethylenediamine bis(isatin) Schiff base ligand are report
ed. Elemental analysis, molar conductivity magnetic moment, spectral U
V/Visible, IR and H-1 NMR data have been used to characterize these ch
elates. It has been found that the ligand behaves as a dibasic ONNO qu
adridentate ligand forming 1:1 (metal:ligand) stoichiomet;y. A non-ele
ctrolytic nature is suggested for these chelates with exception of Ag(
I), Th(IV) La(III) and Ce(III) chelates which exhibit a weak electroly
tic behaviour. Different geometrical structures have been proposed for
these chelates on the basis of magnetic and spectral measurements.
