L. Poskitt et F. Wojnarowska, TREATMENT OF CICATRICIAL PEMPHIGOID WITH TETRACYCLINE AND NICOTINAMIDE, Clinical and experimental dermatology, 20(3), 1995, pp. 258-259
Cicatricial pemphigoid is a rare autoimmune blistering disease involvi
ng predominantly mucosal areas in elderly patients. It runs a chronic
relapsing course. Immunosuppressive treatments are frequently complica
ted by adverse effects and require careful monitoring. A 69-year-old w
oman is reported who responded well to a simple regimen of combined te
tracycline and nicotinamide after 15 years of inadequate disease contr
ol and numerous adverse effects from immunosuppressive agents.
