Abstract
Differential cross sections for simultaneous electron-photon excitatio n of He 2(3)S and 2(1)S are calculated for impact energies near thresh old. An extension of Kroll and Watson's theory to inelastic collisions is used. Laser-off differential cross sections are calculated using a (29-state) R-matrix approach. Important modifications in the differen tial cross section are produced when the laser is turned on.
