Abstract
The structure of the Au(110) surface between 30 and 600 K has been stu died by means of low-energy electron diffraction. The analysis of the width and of the intensity of an out-of-phase spot revealed an anomaly between 250 and 350 K which is attributed to the evolution of monoato mic steps as has been expected for preroughening transition.
