Abstract
A novel approach to the design of multidimensional (MD) lossless filte rs is presented. This approach is based on the lossy transformation te chnique (LTT), which was originally applied to the synthesis of lumped and/or distributed lossy microwave networks and is such that a new cl ass of MD networks can be obtained. To illustrate the application of t he approach, the design principle of two-dimensional (2-D) quadrant fa n filter is proposed and compared with image parameter method. Then, a new class of 2-D reactance functions is deduced via substitution. Fin ally, a design example is given.
