A method for determining the relative importance of alternative input-
to-output paths in an interconnection network can be used to diagnose
crosstalk. It is applicable to both ac steady-state behavior and trans
ient behavior and can identify which stray coupling is most responsibl
e for the interference and false signaling produced by unintended tran
smission paths. Networks containing both lumped and distributed elemen
ts are amenable to this technique.
