Abstract
A new species of nightjar is described from a single wing salvaged fro m a road corpse in 1992 on the Nechisar Plains, Ethiopia. The species is unknown in life. The wing is highly distinctive, particularly becau se of the unusual position of the white patch on the primaries. Sugges tions as to its nearest relatives must await description of an entire individual.
