ALPHA-FE2O3 COATINGS ON Y2O2S-EU

Two methods are presented for applying alpha-Fe2O3 coatings to Y2O2S:E u phosphor grains. In the first method alpha-FeO(OH) is precipitated h omogeneously on the phosphor, followed by thermal decomposition into a lpha-Fe2O3. The second method consists of precipitation of FeSO4 on th e phosphor, followed by thermal decomposition of FeSO4 into alpha-Fe2O 3. The material obtained can be applied as red primary in color televi sion sets. (C) 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
