Abstract
The results of a theoretical investigation of the slowing down of a he avy-ion pair, injected into a classical dense plasma with a velocity s maller than the average electron speed, are presented, paying particul ar attention to the two-ion correlation effects. Within the dielectric approach, both the electron and ion populations, possibly with differ ent temperatures, are considered to participate in the plasma response via the excitation and damping of ion-acoustic and ion plasma oscilla tions. The electrostatic potential perturbation generated by test ion pairs and their stopping power are computed.
