Recent advances in the study of fluidized-bed nuclear reactor's stabil
ity, due to short and long time transients, are discussed. The point-k
inetic model, which considers flux variation in the axial direction, i
s applied to study short time transients, and the theory of bifurcatio
n is used for long time transients. Numerical results are presented fo
r both transients. The preliminary results indicate that this concept
of a nuclear reactor has a behavior similar to that of a conventional
reactor regarding its dynamic stability.
