A. Petryszak et W. Fudalewiczniemczyk, PROPRIOCEPTORS ON THE LEGS OF POORLY FLYING INSECTS, Acta Biologica Cracoviensia. Series Zoologia, 37, 1995, pp. 1-9
The distribution of two types of proprioceptors: hair plates and group
s of pores on mesothoracic legs was studied in representatives of poor
ly-flying insects: Ephemera vulgata L. (Ephemoroptera), Nemura cinerea
(Retzius) (Plecoptera), Raphidia ophiopsis L. (Raphidioptera), Microm
us variegatus F. (Planipennia) and Panorpa communis L. (Mecoptera). Th
e number and distribution of proprioceptors on the legs were compared
between good and poor fliers, and the homology of trochanteral hair pl
ates was identified.
