Abstract
Originality of the European eel is its single spawning area in the Sar gasso Sea, which supposed long transatlantic migrations. One of them, the first one, concerns the larvae: leptocephali and glass eels. This laval migration is still unknown on a spatio-temporal point of view. M icrostructural study of sagittae of glass eels allows the steps of ear ly marine life to be estimated counting daily increments and the spawn ing period to be deducted.
