Thermoluminescence of LiF:Cu2+ in the form of single crystals and poly
crystalline powder has been studied after beta-irradiation. The featur
es of the glow curves are studied in different samples as a function o
f impurity concentration, material form and storage. The glow curve, c
onsisting of a predominant peak at about 155 degrees C and of much wea
ker peaks at higher temperatures, looks simpler than that of LIF:MS, C
u, P. The sensitivity increases in the single crystals with increasing
dopant concentration and is enhanced for samples in powder form. Line
arity of the response to dose is observed for the main peak up to 100
Gy. Absence of fading is found at normal storage temperatures. No sign
ificant loss of sensitivity appears after repeated use. Appreciable mo
difications of the glow curve shape are caused by different kinds of i
onizing radiations. All these results suggest the use of LiF:Cu2+ for
dosimetric purposes.
